This section complicates the standard definition of happiness by showing my mixed perceptions of it, how happiness has been used as a single story, the "darker" sides of happiness, the capitalistic aspect of the phenomenon, and how the concept has been used by oppressive forces. Then, I define happiness for the purposes of this project and describe my purpose and the organization of the memoir, as well as the lens through which I will be storytelling.
