School
This section is organized into 3 parts. First, I approach high school through the lens of Omatsu's building of citizens versus "trained individualists," my parents' preparation for my sister and I to attend high school, and my high school experience. Secondly, I focus on community college as a space to discover one's talents and interests through framework of Villanueva's journey, and then situate my own community college journey in the text. Lastly, I highlight how I came to this research topic in graduate school and how crying in class was a pivotal moment for exploration.
